Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday of the year. You don’t have to worry about gifts, Santa Claus, or the Easter Bunny… although we always welcome the Tooth Fairy at Whitley Family Dental! Every time we celebrate Thanksgiving, we take the time to reflect on our life and just focus on being with the people we love.
Our favorite traditions at the Whitley household include cooking fried turkey, eating broccoli/rice/cheese casserole, and watching movies with the entire family. We think the simplicity and deliciousness of a pecan pie makes it the best dessert! In fact, we just use the recipe found on the back of the Karo syrup bottle.
As we get older, we’ve become increasingly thankful for the gift of life. In the last five months, Dr. Bill and I have lost three of our four parents, which led to us reflecting on the important things in our precious lives. I remember when Dr. Bill wanted to take me and my son out of town for the very first time. Our destination? College Station, Texas! Just proves that you don’t have to go far to have a great time with your family.
This year, we’ll spend our Thanksgiving at home in Dallas. I am so thankful for my son Nick who is a senior at Prestonwood Christian Academy, which is a high school that values family, friends, and God. We are also very grateful for our whole family, including the people in our dental office and all our wonderful patients. You are basically our extended family!
